As the paddock arrived in California, Jonathan Rea had yet to miss the podium, Tom Sykes needed to close the gap, and Chaz Davies was looking for that extra dash of magic that had seen the Welshman reign supreme at tracks such as Aragon and Imola. With the sun beating down on the land of the free, Nicky Hayden was ready for his first WorldSBK Round on home soil and the spectacle promised to be a good one – and an incredible one it turned out to be.
With two very different races characterised by the incredible undulating 3.6km layout of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Round 9 was a highlight in itself: and here to watch are the highlights of one of the jewels of the season so far, to feel that spike of adrenaline again and again.
